Shreveport Police to set up safety checkpoint next week. Here’s what you need to know

Put on your seatbelts, the Shreveport Police Department is conducting a seatbelt checkpoint next Tuesday, June 10, in an undisclosed location in the eastern region of the city.

This checkpoint will begin at noon and conclude at 7 p.m. This checkpoint is part of an initiative to identify and address drivers and passengers who are not in compliance with Louisiana’s occupant protection laws.

The police department said this checkpoint is not just limited to seatbelt violations and may include enforcement of other traffic laws.

“The goal of this operation is to reduce fatalities and serious injuries caused by unrestrained motorists involved in crashes,” SPD said in a news release. “Officers will be fully engaged in their duties to ensure the safety of all roadway users.”
